Nationwide Children’s Hospital

Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio is one of the United States’ largest not-for-profit freestanding pediatric health care systems, providing state-of-the-art wellness, preventive and rehabilitative care and diagnostic treatment during more than 1.6 million patient visits annually. The Division of Child and Family Advocacy serves children at Nationwide Children’s and at its co-located child advocacy center, The Center for Family Safety and Healing. With the goal to end family violence and create safe and thriving communities, The Center for Family Safety and Healing is a comprehensive program to address the continuum of family violence across the lifespan, including child abuse and neglect. Each year, the Division of Child and Family Advocacy faculty provides over 200 inpatient consults and over 1,300 outpatient assessments. They also provide care in our Fostering Connections Progracm, a medical home for children in out-of-home placement.

Site Co-PI: Megan Letson, MD, MEd

Megan Letson, MD, MEd: Dr. Letson completed her medical degree at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine followed by her pediatric residency and child abuse pediatrics fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. She also completed a master’s degree in education at the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Letson is an Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. She is the Division Chief of Child and Family Advocacy, the Medical Director of The Center for Family Safety and Healing, and the Child Abuse Pediatrics fellowship program director. Dr. Letson is the site Co-PI for CAPNET and serves on the CAPNET Writing and Publications Committee.

Co-PI Farah Brink, MD

Dr. Brink is a child abuse pediatrician at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. She completed her child abuse pediatrics fellowship in 2013 and has been part of the Division of Child and Family Advocacy as an attending physician since that time. Her research interests include all areas of child maltreatment with a focus on physical abuse. Within CAPNET, Dr. Brink is site Co-PI and serves on the Research Development Committee.

Senior Advisor: Rachel Stanley, MD

Rachel Stanley, MD: Dr. Stanley is the chair of Emergency Medicine at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and a Senior Advisor for CAPNET.  She provides mentorship based on the success of the Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN) where she is a former steering committee chair.
